FAQ

Do I need to wear my Uniform?

Yes, always wear your uniform to any activity, camp, meeting or trip unless told otherwise.

Where do I sew on the badges I’ve been awarded?

It’s a common question – click here for a complete guide, or ask for anything you’re not sure about..

Do Scout leaders get paid?

No. All our leaders and helpers are volunteers.

Where can I buy a new scarf or woggle?

The group sells spare woggles and scarves at a small cost. Your first woggle and scarf on joining are free.

Are parents allowed/needed to help out?

Both the Beavers and Cub sections run Parent Rota’s. Every parents is assigned a date and it is the responsibility of the parents to swap dates if they cannot make it. If we have trips out (farm visits, group days, etc) then we sometimes need parents or other helpers to look after small groups of our beavers, cubs or scouts. If you think you’ll want to do this, you need to apply for a DBS check – these are free, but can take some time to be completed. DBS checks from other organisations (schools, employers, etc) are not valid: it needs to be a Scout DBS check, and you won’t be permitted to take part in certain activities – such as family camping – unless you have one.  Speak to one of our leaders for a form.
